Thinking in Blocks: A New Foundation for BigBlueButton's Shared Notes
Shared notes have long been one of BigBlueButton's most loved collaboration features, but their underlying editor limited what they could become. This session presents the migration of shared notes to BlockNote, a modern block-based rich text editor with real-time collaboration built on Yjs. Beyond a refreshed editing experience inspired by tools like Notion, the new foundation is natively integrated into the BigBlueButton client and designed for extensibility. Guliherme will walk through the motivation, the technical challenges of the migration, and the possibilities it opens: custom block types, richer exports, improved accessibility, and a path toward smarter, more capable notes in every session.
