This session explores how flexibility in delivery has been expanded through Contact North | Contact Nord offering both Moodle integration and Greenlight by Blindside Networks as front-end approaches to accessing BigBlueButton.

Learn how our education and training partners can choose workflows that align with their learners, programs, and operational needs - from fully integrated course experiences to simplified virtual classroom access. The session will also highlight what they have found as distinctive BigBlueButton engagement-focused classroom tools designed specifically for teaching and learning.

About Joni Sharkey

Joni Sharkey is Director of the EdTech Platform Service at Contact North | Contact Nord, she leads the delivery and support of digital learning platforms including BigBlueButton, Moodle, and Extended Reality (XR) for Ontario’s public colleges, universities, Indigenous institutes, and training providers. Having first worked with BigBlueButton in 2015, she has enjoyed seeing the platform evolve into a leading open-source virtual classroom for teaching, learning, and collaboration.

Joni has worked with and supported over 2000 Ontario instructors and trainers as they began online delivery. She also leads the development of instructor and learner-ready resources to ensure all users are prepared and confident in joining, navigating, and interacting in barrier-free online learning experiences. Her commitment to advancing digital inclusion and learner-centred design has supported the growth of Ontario’s online learning for 17 years.
