Code as a Shared Language: Preparing BigBlueButton for Human-AI Collaboration

Code is read far more often than it is written, and today its readers include not only developers but also AI assistants. This session will present a code quality roadmap for BigBlueButton built on a simple thesis: code that is easier to understand, is easier to test, easier to evolve, and easier to develop with AI assistance. Tainan Felipe and Ramón Souza, who are developers at iMDT, will show how reducing complexity and improving structure unlocks the full potential of unit testing, accelerates onboarding of new contributors, and turns AI tools into reliable collaborators rather than sources of noise. The will provide some concrete examples from the BigBlueButton codebase, the metrics they are tracking and the phases of the roadmap ahead.
