How We Use BigBlueButton to Engage Online Learners
Research shows a positive correlation between student engagement and their success in online learning. Mary Beth Graham and Tammy Barker will share how Indiana Tech uses BigBlueButton as part of an intentional strategy to offer consistent, high-quality opportunities for engagement with their instructors and classmates through a weekly Tech Live session. They will also share best practices for instructors specifically relating to the use of BigBlueButton.
About Mary Beth Graham and Tammy Barker
Tammy Barker serves as the Assistant Dean of Online Learning for the Talwar College of Engineering and Computer Sciences at Indiana Tech, where she also teaches mathematics. Her work focuses on supporting faculty, improving the quality of distance education, and helping educators foster student success. She is glad to join today's conversation to share practical strategies for building engaging, accessible, and effective online learning spaces.
Mary Beth Graham is Director of Online Learning at Indiana Tech, where she leads the Instructional Design Team, manages online course development, sets and maintains quality standards for online teaching and learning, and supports and mentors faculty. An educator for over 30 years in online, blended, and face-to-face formats, Mary Beth is a Quality Matters Master Reviewer and workshop facilitator. She is passionate about online learning and providing students with opportunities to engage with one another, their instructor, and the content as part of their learning experience.
